Sunday’s rainy weather forced Tamaqua Area Hunger Campaign organizers to change their Tamaqua Heritage Day plans.
Campaign volunteers decided not to attend the festival to take soup orders and collect donations for area food pantries.
Although the Heritage Day plans changed, residents have another opportunity to place soup orders in person at Boyer’s Market at the upcoming Feed A Family Day on Sunday.
The option is helpful for people who cannot or prefer not to order soup online.
Soups will be distributed from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 31 from St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church on Pine Street in Tamaqua.
As for Feed A Family Day, shoppers can purchase a $10 bag of groceries containing items valued at more than $10. Cash donations are also welcome to support the campaign.
The Tamaqua Area Hunger Campaign is held throughout October and supports four local food pantries and one baby food ministry that help individuals and families in need.
Donations may also be made by visiting tamaquahunger.tacp.info.
Other events include Dine Out Against Hunger Days at participating Tamaqua area eateries on Oct. 21 and 22; a Zumbathon at the Perla Building on Oct. 31; and the campaign-ending Hunger Walk on Nov. 1.
