Local roundup: Results from Oct. 8 & 9

Freedom used three first-half goals to pull away from Pleasant Valley for a 5-0 victory in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference girls soccer action Friday.

In volleyball, Weatherly dropped a non-league contest to MMI, while Tamaqua suffered a Schuylkill League setback against unbeaten Pottsville on Thursday.

Pleasant Valley-Freedom

Freedom scored three first-half goals and added two more after intermission to post a 5-0 victory over Pleasant Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

The Patriots held a 16-3 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. Pleasant Valley goalkeeper Haley Ott finished with 14 saves.

Hailey Rosado led the Wreckers with 17 digs, seven assists and a block, while Lilah Gower added 15 digs, seven assists and two aces.

Mikayla Kuntz contributed 14 digs, 10 assists, a block and an ace for Weatherly.

Unbeaten Pottsville improved to 16-0 with a 25-4, 25-14, 25-4 sweep of Tamaqua in Thursday’s Schuylkill League matchup.

Anna Burke led the Crimson Tide with 11 kills and an ace, while Cat Mohl added five aces and Tamera Curry contributed two kills and two aces.

Madison Schock paced the Blue Raiders with six assists and 11 digs. Skylare McConnon added eight digs, while Naomi Knitter recorded two kills, an ace and four digs.
