Local roundup: Results from Oct. 7
Lehighton erupted for nine first-half goals on its way to a 13-0 field hockey victory over Bethlehem Catholic Wednesday, while Weatherly’s girls cross country team remained unbeaten in Schuylkill League competition.
The Indians had four players score twice in their second straight victory, while the Wreckers swept the top three places in the girls race to improve to 10-0 with wins over both Nativity and Gillingham.
Tamaqua’s boys and girls cross country teams and Marian’s boys also swept their respective meets, while Pleasant Valley edged Easton 2-1 in boys soccer.

Tamaqua swept its three opponents in both the boys and girls competitions during a four-team Schuylkill League meet at Mahanoy Area.
Aidan Elston won the boys race in 18:22, while teammates Parker Steencken (19:02) and Memphis Kline (19:15) finished third and fourth, respectively.
In the girls race, Shaylee Gormley placed second in 23:03, followed by Peyton O’Brien in third (23:52). Aubry Jones, Gia Clemson, Sophia Stellfox and Madelyn Schaefer also finished among the top eight.
Both Tamaqua teams improved to 9-2 in league competition.

Nativity-Weatherly-Gillingham
Weatherly swept the top three places in the girls race to remain unbeaten in Schuylkill League cross country competition, with victories over both Nativity and Gillingham.
Mikayla Pugh led the Wreckers with a winning time of 20:27, followed by teammates Emma Moyer (20:54) and Mikayla Kuntz (20:30). Weatherly defeated Nativity 23-32 and Gillingham 15-50 to improve to 10-0 in league competition.
In the boys race, Nativity swept the competition behind Wyatt Hylka, who finished first in 17:06. Teammates Jacob Bowman (17:35) and Kyle McCormick (17:50.98) placed second and third, respectively.
Weatherly’s Alex Best finished sixth in 18:45, followed by Khrystian Rivera in seventh (18:48). The Wreckers also defeated Gillingham 17-41.

Marian swept its three opponents in Schuylkill League boys cross country action at Shenandoah Valley.
The Colts posted identical 26-31 victories over Schuylkill Haven and Shenandoah Valley and defeated Tri-Valley 15-50, improving to 9-2 in Schuylkill League competition.
In the girls competition, Marian fell to Schuylkill Haven (15-50), Shenandoah Valley (15-50) and Tri-Valley (21-34), dropping to 2-9 in league action.

Adrian Szyszko and Michael Powell both scored goals to lead Pleasant Valley to a 2-1 East Penn Conference victory over Easton.
The Bears scored twice in the first half and held off the Red Rovers, who scored their lone goal after intermission.
Gavin Lewis and Christian Pinheiro both recorded assists for Pleasant Valley, while goalkeeper Cole Clark made three saves.

Brody Schlier scored off an assist from Aidan Elston to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 first-half lead. Lourdes Regional answered with a second-half goal from Josh Miller.
Tamaqua goalkeeper Jake Tamagini finished with 11 saves, while Lourdes’ Nathan Yablonski made nine.

The Red Rovers built a 4-0 halftime lead, but the Bears responded with two second-half goals.
Marta Perry finished a pass from Victoria Lucarello to get Pleasant Valley on the board, while Lexi Krasniqi converted a cross from Perry for the Bears’ second goal.
Pleasant Valley goalkeeper Haley Ott finished with 11 saves.

Jordan Hausman, Maezie Hunsicker, Addie Yenser and Blayr Strawser each scored two goals apiece for the Indians, who earned their second straight victory.
Sophia Wise, Amber Yeakel, Quinn Lichtenwalner, Tori Nied and Dakota Markley also scored as Lehighton improved to 5-9.
The Indians held a 30-1 advantage in shots.
