Lehighton State Police - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following crashes:
• One person was hurt and a second driver was cited after a crash at 5:26 p.m. July 3 on the Wilkes-Barre Boulevard (Route 115) in Ross Township.Jamile Redding, 42, of Mount Bethel, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.Police said her 2004 Hyundai Elantra and a 2012 Chevrolet Challenger operated by Harrison A. Lange of Alpharetta, Georgia, were involved in the crash at the intersection of Meixsell Valley Road. Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.Police said Lange was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.•A 17-year-old female from Palmerton was cited with failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 6:53 p.m. July 6 on Hahn's Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township.Police said she sustained minor injuries in the crash.Police said she was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla east and was traveling down a hill when the vehicle began to slide on the wet roadway. The teen attempted to negotiate a sharp left curve, at which time the Toyota slid into the westbound lane and struck a 2004 Dodge Dakota head-on. The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old male fromTreichlers, was uninjured.• Two vehicles sustained disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene of a crash at 6:04 p.m. July 6 on the Wilkes-Barre Boulevard in Ross Township.The crash took place when Sherry L. Stockum, 38, of Saylorsburg, driving north on the highway (Route 115), became distracted and her 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara drifted into the southbound lane and struck a 2014 Kia Optima operated by Shelley L. Flemmer, 51, of Effort.Neither driver was hurt.• December D. Reinoso, 19, of Lehighton, sustained minor injuries when a 2009 Kia Rio she was driving crashed and flipped onto its roof at 3:44 p.m. July 8 on Summer Mountain Road in East Penn Township.She was cited.Police said she was southbound and negotiating a left curve on a downhill grade when she lost control of the Kia, which left the roadway and struck a tree on the west side of the road before flipping onto its roof. It slid about 30 feet down Summer Mountain Road before coming to rest in the northbound lane facing south. The driver was transported to the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton.Police were assisted at the scene by Lehighton EMS and East Penn Fire Company personnel.• Two drivers escaped injuries in a minor crash at 1:15 p.m. July 8 on Lower Smith Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township.A vehicle driven by a 20-year-old woman struck a vehicle driven by a 37-year-old woman as they were at a stop waiting for another vehicle to turn.The first vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, sustained disabling damages and needed to be towed from the scene.• Erin Shook, 27, of Lehighton, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:45 p.m. July 9 on Route 209 in Polk Township.Police said she was transported to the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, by the West End Ambulance after the crash about 100 yards east of Silver Spring Road.Police said she was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Sayde Owens, 21, of Stroudsburg, who was uninjured, as was another passenger, Cristy Packer, 23, also of Lehighton.• A vehicle driven by Regina Lynn Carano, 32, of Lake Harmony, hit the rear of the vehicle operated by Owens after the latter had slowed for traffic. Both vehicles were northbound on Route 209.The Polk Township Fire Company responded to the scene.
