September 25, 1959 — Bobby Gelatko’s 10-yard touchdown run with just a few minutes to play breaks a tie game and gives Lansford an eventual 12-6 victory over Schuylkill Haven. After a scoring threat by the Panthers stalls at the 3-yard line midway through the fourth quarter, Lansford forces a Haven punt. Gelatko’s 31-yard return gives his team great field position and sets up the winning score. Mike Karnish seals the victory when he intercepts a pass on the Hurricanes’ ensuing possession. K.R. Fredericks accounts for the Panthers’ other score, reaching the end zone on a 4-yard run in the opening frame.
