Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is observance of “Harvest Home,” following a season of gathered crops. Non-perishable food items or monetary donations directly benefit the Trinity Pantry. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Congregational fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

Weekly Sunday Church School for students ages 3 through grade 6 plus confirmation classes begin at 10:45 a.m.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Trinity Thrift Store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. Cash only sales. Donations of clothing and household goods will be accepted during store hours on Wednesday’s only. There is a five bag limit. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

Looking ahead:

Members of Trinity are invited to take part in the “Lehighton 250 USA, Small Town, Big Story” Parade Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. by walking the route as a group. Gather on Coal Street between Eighth and Ninth before walking down the route on Iron Street, turn at Third Street until its conclusion at the Grove.

“Blessing of the Animals” is Oct. 3, 2:30 p.m. on the church lawn. Pets must be secured. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in Luther Hall.

“Fall Craft and Car Show,” that had been scheduled on Oct. 4 is canceled.

BECC

Weekly events:

Sunday School: Sunday School for children and youth every Sunday at 11 a.m., except the first Sunday of the month.

Sister Chix: A support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call Jillian at 484-464-3332.

Men’s Bible Workshop: First and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking entrance.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Second Saturday of each month from 9-11 a.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

Food Pantry: Takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m. Please bring a driver’s license or some other form of ID.
