The Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce named two dedicated servants as its Citizen of the Year and Business Leader of the Year.

Dr. John Nicholson, who has been serving the needs of area patients in Palmerton for the past 25 years, was named Citizen of the Year while Donald Shea, a longtime retailer in town, was named the Business Leader of the Year.

Peter Kern, chamber president, said they will be recognized for their “noble achievements in the community” during the chamber’s annual dinner meeting Ridge Country Club, Lower Towamensing Township.

Shea has been instrumental in making the family-owned Shea’s Hardware store in Palmerton a highly-regarded business in the area.
