The Bach and Handel Chorale, based in Jim Thorpe, is starting its 2026-2027 season of concerts. Rehearsals begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays in the chorale rehearsal room in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 319 South Ave., in Jim Thorpe, second floor, rear.

The chorale is accepting voices of all parts. Perspective new members are invited to attend the rehearsals and after the rehearsal, have a chat with the conductor and music director.

The remaining Tuesday evenings in September also will be open rehearsals for possible new members to attend.

The Bach and Handel Chorale will be starting their 42nd year as the only semiprofessional chorus in the area, with members being drawn from Carbon, Lehigh, Schuylkill and other areas. It performs with a professional orchestra each spring. The orchestra draws its members from the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York and other areas.

The chorale is known in the Netherlands, Japan, Austria, Germany and Switzerland, in addition to the United States. Although their music is mostly the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, they also sing modern works for the Advent, Christmas and Passion seasons. They have sung works composed by their conductor, Handel’s “Messiah” many times and Bach’s Immortal “Mass in B Minor.”

Randall Douglas Perry founded the chorale in 1984 and serves as its artistic director and conductor.

Maestro Perry has been involved with choral, instrumental and keyboard music for almost 60 years. He has taught piano and brass instruments, composed numerous pieces for chorus, orchestra and piano and has been called upon to be guest conductor at various musical events.
