Logan Gillespie of Jim Thorpe took first place in the girls race at the annual Centaur Invitational on Saturday.

In other action, Palmerton’s Aubrey Frable, Tamaqua’s Avery Muffley and Northern Lehigh’s Kellen Bauer all had big games to lead their respective teams to soccer wins.

Centaur Invitational

Jim Thorpe’s Logan Gillespie paced the field in a time of 19:04.4 to capture the top girls spot at the 47th Annual Centaur Invitational at DeSales University.

Teammate Stacy Bos also finished in the top 10, placing ninth overall in 20:50.6.

Leading their respective schools among local teams were Northwestern’s Rosalia Nestor (seventh, 20:33.8); Lehighton’s Claudia Pagotto (31st, 22:27.4); Tamaqua’s Peyton O’Brien (44th, 23.06.4); Northern Lehigh’s Emily Gad (58th, 23;35.3); and Marian’s Anna Keer (90th, 24:54.4).

Northwestern’s Brandon Richards was the top area boys finisher, taking 14th in a time of 17:15.3.

Other local finishers leading their teams included Lehighton’s Joshua Cathers (21st, 17:27.0); Marian’s Wade Eroh (24th, 17:32.5); Tamaqua’s Aiden Elston (33rd, 17:54.9); Jim Thorpe’s Colin Warren (85th, 19:38.8); and Northern Lehigh’s Landon Rentschler (131st, 21:08.4).

Lehighton ended a three-game losing streak by posting a 3-2 Colonial League win over visiting Palisades.

Jordan Hausman paced the Indians with a pair of goals.

Lily Shapiro also tallied for the winners, while goalie Lillian Klotz made six saves.

The winners, who broke a 1-1 halftime tie, also received a pair of goals from Avery Barry while goalie Taylor Wasilewski turned aside six shots.
