Schuylkill fire museum open house today

The Schuylkill Historical Fire Society will be hosting its annual open house/muster at its two locations today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Shenandoah Museum, located in an 1870 fire station at 105 S. Jardin St., will offer free tours including the original jailhouse, basement speakeasy and upstairs meeting room. Numerous exhibits will be on display, and photo opportunities will be available.

The Mahanoy City Restoration Shop and Warehouse, located at 11 White Owl Drive, features over 100 antique fire engines on display. Free tours of the facility, including its extensive parts room, will be offered. SHFS T-shirts, mugs and books will be available for purchase at the location. Breakfast sandwiches and lunch will also be offered at the Mahanoy City location.
