U.S. Olympian and former Penn State field hockey standout Phia Gladieux will visit Pleasant Valley High School on Saturday for a training clinic and meet-and-greet hosted by the Pleasant Valley Youth Association field hockey program.

The event will take place at Pleasant Valley High School Stadium from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a break scheduled from 11-11:30 a.m.

Gladieux represented the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the fourth Penn State field hockey player to earn a spot on a U.S. Olympic team. She scored her first Olympic goal in the Americans’ 1-1 tie against Spain.

A Boyertown native and Oley Valley graduate, Gladieux went on to put together one of the most accomplished careers in Penn State field hockey history.

Gladieux was a five-time first-team All-Big Ten selection and earned NFHCA All-America honors in each of her five seasons with the Nittany Lions, including first-team recognition in each of her final four seasons. She was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023 and Big Ten Player of the Year in 2022.

Gladieux capped her Penn State career in 2024 by leading the team with 20 goals and 44 points. She finished as the program’s all-time leader in both goals (94) and points (202).

Before arriving at Penn State, Gladieux was a four-year starter at Oley Valley, where she scored 206 career goals and earned first-team all-state honors four times.

Saturday’s appearance will give young players from the area an opportunity to work with an Olympian and one of the most decorated players in Penn State history. A meet-and-greet with Gladieux will also be part of the event.

The clinic is hosted by PVYA field hockey as part of the organization’s efforts to continue growing the sport locally.
