Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) has announced that its Center for Workforce Development is launching a new “Phlebotomy Comprehensive” program at its Donley Center in downtown Allentown this fall.
The accelerated program is on the fall schedule and open for public enrollment.
Running from Oct. 5 to Dec. 3, the fast-track program offers hands-on clinical training to prepare students for entry-level roles in healthcare.
Classes will meet 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Donley Center.
“We are thrilled to expand our healthcare training offerings directly to the Allentown community through our Donley Center location,” said Michelle Isabelle McLeod of the LCCC Center for Workforce Development in an Aug. 27 press release from LCCC.
“Phlebotomists play a crucial, front-line role in medical diagnostics and patient care. This accelerated course gives students a direct path to gain vital clinical skills and enter the workforce quickly,” McLeod said.
Phlebotomists are healthcare professionals trained to draw blood for medical testing, transfusions, donations and research.
Graduates can pursue career opportunities in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, community health center, blood banks, physicians’ offices and long-term care facilities.
Scholarships are available for Lehigh, Carbon and Schuylkill county residents.
Registration is open.
