A memorial service marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 will be held at the South Ward Playground in Tamaqua.

The service will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the playground at Penn and Oak streets. It is being held a day later this year.

All are invited to join for an evening of remembrance, reflection and unity as the service honors those who were lost and those who continue to carry their memory.

Micah Gursky, executive director of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership, will be the master of ceremonies. Skyy Boyer will sing patriotic songs throughout the service.

Additional participants include Gary Hess, Barron “Boots” Hetherington and Larry Padora, Schuylkill County commissioners; Pastor Rob Tomes of New Life Assembly of God; the Rev. Dillon Epler of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church; Tamaqua Mayor David Clemson; state Rep. Jamie Barton; Pastor Sharon Stokes of Stokes Ministry; Jael Houser of the Salvation Army; Nicholas Boyle of the Tamaqua Area School Board; and Jack Kulp, a U.S. Army veteran, radio personality and musician.

Members of the South Ward Fire Company and the American Legion Post 173 will also participate.
