State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• Jamie L. Meixsell, 41, of Saylorsburg, was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 8:27 a.m. Aug. 3 at the intersection of Route 209 and Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the she complained of neck pain but refused an emergency medical services transport from the scene.

They said the crash occurred when Meixsell was driving a 2017 Subaru Impreza that failed to yield the right of way while entering a roundabout and struck a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse operated by Mary L. Kichline, 66, of Saylorsburg.

The Impreza had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, while the Traverse had minor damage and was able to be driven from it.

Meixsell was cited for not having a required registration, according to police.

• Police said Shai Quan S. Aulder, 29, of Saylorsburg, escaped injuries when her vehicle crashed when she tried avoiding a collision with several deer that entered the road at 6:09 a.m. Aug. 16 on the Jonas Road in Polk Township.

She was driving a 2023 Infiniti Q50 east when deer ran onto the roadway. She swerved to avoid striking them and the vehicle went off the left side of the road and down a small embankment, where it came to rest on its right side, police said.

The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

• Robert J. Grill, 22, of Ephrata, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 2:46 p.m. Aug. 16 at the intersection of Route 903 and the Interstate 476 off-ramp in Penn Forest Township, police said. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta that failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by a 2019 Subaru Impreza driven by Charlette L. Lantzy, 28, of Carbondale, who was northbound on Route 903 at the time. After the initial impact, the Impreza hit the guide railing.

Police said it sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene, while the Jetta was able to be driven from it.

• Wendy L. Smentkowski, 66, of Kunkletown, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:41 a.m. Aug. 17 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMC corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

They said she was driving a 2019 Subaru Outback eastbound when it traveled off the road onto a grassy area, striking a billboard on the right side of the road.

The vehicle had heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Smentkowski was issued a warning after the crash, according to police.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:39 p.m. Aug. 17 at the intersection of the off-ramp of Interstate 80 westbound with Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said the crash occurred as Juan Bautista Santana Cuello, 52, of Sussex, New Jersey, was driving a 2017 Honda CRV west on the interstate when he attempted to make a left turn to travel on Route 115 and struck a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica operated by Nikkole Piparato, 35, of Jim Thorpe, who was attempting to cross the intersection.

There was a passenger with Cuello and two children, ages 1 and 5, with Piparato, police said.

Cuello was cited after the crash, according to police.
