Jim Thorpe’s Logan Gillespie turned in a dominant individual performance, while the Olympian girls and Lehighton boys both went unbeaten during Wednesday’s Colonial League cross country meet at Jim Thorpe. Gillespie finished first in the girls race in 18:26.3, nearly a minute-and-a-half ahead of the field, as Jim Thorpe went 3-0. Lehighton’s boys also swept their three dual meets to highlight a busy day of local fall sports action.

Jim Thorpe hosted a Colonial League meet with seven other schools.

Among local schools, the Jim Thorpe girls and Lehighton boys both went a perfect 3-0, while the Olympian boys posted a 2-1 mark and the Lehighton girls went 2-1.

Northern Lehigh earned three total wins, with two coming from the boys team, while Northwestern picked up two victories, with both the boys and girls going 1-1.

Jim Thorpe’s Logan Gillespie posted the top girls time of the day, finishing in 18:26.3 — 1:26.7 ahead of second-place Rosalia Nestor of Northwestern.

Brandon Richards led Northwestern with a runner-up finish in the boys race. Other local runners to finish in the top five included Lehighton’s Joshua Cathers, Northwestern’s Noah Griffith and Jim Thorpe’s Stacy Bos.

Palmerton and Catasauqua traded set wins before the Bombers took the decisive fifth set to earn their first victory of the season, 3-2, in Colonial League action.
