Frankie Althouse continued his march toward the Street Stock championship with his class-leading fifth victory of the season Saturday night at Mahoning Valley Speedway.

Althouse started mid-pack and steadily worked his way forward in the 30-lap feature. Josh Kuryona and Cody Geist battled for the lead early before Althouse climbed to second by lap 10.

Althouse moved around Kuryona for the lead on lap 11, but Kuryona battled back to regain the top spot four laps later. Althouse responded on lap 17, taking the lead for good and pulling away to earn his 48th career Mahoning Valley victory in the caution-free event.

Adam Steigerwalt made a late charge to edge Kuryona for second, while Kuryona settled for a career-best third-place finish.

Nick Schaffer scored his first Hobby Stock victory of the season after taking the lead from James Tout on lap 18.

Tout controlled the early portion of the 25-lap feature before a lap-nine caution erased his advantage. Schaffer eventually worked his way to the front and went around Tout on the outside for the lead.

Tout finished second, while Travis Solomon charged from 13th to third. Point leader Shayne Geist was involved in an incident during the lap-nine caution and did not return.

Bob Kibler remained red hot in the Pro 4 division, earning his third consecutive victory and fourth of the season.

Point leader Tyler Stangle inherited the lead following an early incident involving Mark Fister and remained out front through 17 laps. Kibler took over on lap 18 and went on to score the victory.

Stangle initially finished second but was disqualified during post-race technical inspection for a frame-height infraction, moving Ron Pierson Jr. into the runner-up spot.

Following the victory, Kibler’s car was sold to Breiner Racing, allowing him to close his run with the car on a three-race winning streak.

Bobby Jones made the most of just his second start of the season by winning the 30-lap 602 Modified feature. Jones inherited the pole after Max Pfeifer spun on the initial start and went on to earn his first victory of the season.
