Tamaqua posted wins in both girls soccer and volleyball on Saturday.

A number of other teams also had success over the weekend, including Palmerton and Weatherly’s soccer teams, Lehighton and Panther Valley’s volleyball squads, and Jim Thorpe in tennis.

GIRLS SOCCER

Marian-Weatherly

Maci Kane tallied three second-half goals to help Weatherly to a 3-1 victory over Marian in Schuylkill League action.

Madison Malloy had the lone goal for Marian.

Weatherly goalie Helena Williams came up with nine saves.

Eveleyn Leinbach and Aliana Gomez both scored a pair of goals to lead Tamaqua to an 8-0 romp of Williams Valley in a Schuylkill League matchup.

The Blue Raiders, who tallied four times in each half, also received goals from Gabby Christakoff, Mia Bamford, Sophia Sitlinger and Addi Tracy.

The winners also received a pair of goals from both Chase Zimerofsky and Cam Rodgers.

Jayden Watson and Maddox Day each scored for Thorpe.

Moravian Lions Invitational

Brandon Richards and Rosalia Nestor, both of Northwestern, led the way for the Times News coverage area at the Moravian Academy Lions Invitational.

Both Richards and Nestor turned in the top area finishes, as each ended with fourth-place finishes.

Richards crossed the finish line in a time of 16:52, while Nestor ended the race with a time of 20:03.

Six other boys from the area sported Top 25 finishes. They included Aidan Elston (Tamaqua, 12th place), Wade Eroh (Marian, 17th), Noah Griffith (NW, 19th), Memphis Kline (Tamaqua, 20th), Jacob Berlanda (Marian, 21st) and Isaac Grube (NW, 22nd).

Weatherly’s Mikayla Pugh was the lone other girl to reach that category, placing ninth.

Other top area finishers in the boys race were Adrian Hassold (Northern Lehigh, 83rd), Khyrstian Rivera (Weatherly, 84th), Lucas Franco (Pleasant Valley, 101st) and Gunnar Wentz (Palmerton, 139th).

For the girls, the top finishers were Emily Gad (Northern Lehigh, 39th), Rebekah McLeod (Pleasant Valley, 45th), Shaylee Gormley (Tamaqua, 50th), Lillian Fox (Palmerton, 61st) and Anna Keer (Marian, 85th).

Seamus Wallace, of West Scranton, was first overall in the boys competition with a time of 16:16, while Hannah Brodhead of Freedom ran a 19:39 to top all the girls.
