State police at the Stroudsburg barracks were summoned to the campus of East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday night for a reported “active shooter,” but police found the report to be unfounded.

Police said a 9-1-1 call was received at about 7:47, resulting in a multitude of state and municipal police departments immediately responding to the campus, along with the campus police force.

Police said the campus was cleared by police and no signs of an active shooter event having taken place were present.

Police said there is currently no threat on campus.

They said the investigation is ongoing by the Troop N in conjunction with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
