Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included during this time is Blessing of the Prayer Shawls and Healing. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Congregational fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

The Service of Healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Trinity Thrift Store holds its grand reopening today. The store is open until 6 p.m. There will be giveaways ever half hour. Must be present to win. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. Cash only sales. The store is not accepting donations of clothing or household goods until Sept. 2. Looking ahead:

Weekly Sunday Church School for students ages 3 through grade 6 begins Sept. 13 at 10:45 a.m. with rally day activities.

Sister Chix: A support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call Jillian at 484-464-3332.

Men’s Bible Workshop: First and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking entrance.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Second Saturday of each month from 9-11 a.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

Food Pantry: Takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m. Please bring a driver’s license or some other form of ID.
