Laura M. Thonus, 22, of Blakeslee, was cited by state police at the Frackville barracks for careless driving after a one-vehicle crash at 11:25 a.m. Aug. 10 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township.

Police said she was driving a 2013 Subaru Legacy northbound in the left lane of the southbound interstate when she fell asleep. The vehicle veered to the left and continued to travel north in the median before traveling down a dirt/rock embankment, coming to rest next to Route 1006 (Burma Road).Police said she was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, where she was treated and released.
