Letter to the editor: Running up that treacherous hill

Millions of American women feel outrage over Republican patriarchal scorn of females when they shape American policy.

For decades the Republican Party used a deceptive front, and sucked in millions of Americans to vote on cultural wars, instead of on their own fundamental and economic interests.

The hate of Christian love; banning books they don’t like, marginalizing and exclusion of transgender, homosexuals, secularists, and different lifestyles.

Ignorant of the many Gospels referring to accepting others. Controlling female reproductive rights. Whitewashing Black history.

They use “family, morals and patriotism” as a smoke screen to callously meddle and interfere in other peoples private personal lives to get power and control.

U.S. Rep. Bresnahan represents the 8th District in Monroe County. I find him and all the other Pennsylvania Republicans who voted YES on the SAVE Act, as arrogant, egocentric partisan hacks who are more concerned about their own ambitions, that it affects eligible voters the most, especially females.

Scott Yenor of the Heritage Foundation believes “first wave feminism women’s suffrage was a mistake, professional women are medicated, meddlesome and quarrelsome and whether only males of house holds should be able to vote.” (NYT 2026) Wild! Our country is already experiencing the cruelties of the Heritage Foundation “Project 2025” blueprint for the future.

The sexual abuse, rape, captivity and sexual trafficking of up to 1,200 young girls and women by wealthy powerful men were reported in the Epstein files with criminal reports 30 years ago.

Why wasn’t he stopped earlier? “I’d say the good old boys insurance protection plan. Women know damn well they live in a world built by men, for men. The betrayal of the legal system wielding contempt by sideling them, while abusers remain shielded is abuse of power. I say, they will not be dismissed or go away quietly even after being sacked.

2026 — FBI releases new report on rising domestic violence murders. Consider reading, “Who Gets to Kill in Self-Defense” by Rachel Louise Snyder. “Self defense laws were written for men and fail women who fight back.” Summary on line.
