August 11, 1992 — The Palmerton Area School Board names Manny Guedes as its head football coach to replace Jack Sweeney, who resigned a month earlier for health reasons. Guedes gets his second stint as Blue Bomber mentor after guiding them during the 1989 and 1990 seasons. Guedes, who was planning on being an assistant, ends up leading Palmerton to an impressive 9-3 record. The board also hires James Miller as an assistant to fill the vacant spot left when Guedes moves up to head coach.
