PSP Stroudsburg - accidents
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following accidents:
• Tammy M. Sargent, 54, of Brodheadsville, was injured in a crash at 8:44 a.m. on Aug. 3 on Route 115 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the severity of her injuries are unknown. She was transported by personnel from the Wind Gap Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
Police said she was driving a 2018 Ford Explorer northbound when the crash occurred. She told police a dump truck traveling south entered her lane, at which time she swerved to the right to avoid a collision. She said the vehicle struck a utility pole and ended up on its left side. It sustained disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene.
• Kenneth A. Meyer, 57, of Lehighton, sustained suspected minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 5:42 p.m. on Aug. 3 on the off ramp of Interstate 80 eastbound in Smithfield Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Suburban EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
They said the crash occurred when David B. Spear, 81, of Bushkill, was driving a 2023 Volkswagen on the ramp when it veered to the right shoulder and sideswiped a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado and camper that Meyer was operating but was disabled. Police said Meyer was outside his vehicle and inside the cargo area of the camper at the time and the impact of the collision, which caused him to hit his head on the metal walls inside the cargo compartment.
Police said the Volkswagen was towed from the scene.
They said Spear was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
• Keith Moyle, 47, of Stroudsburg, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 1:31 p.m. on July 30 at the intersection of Kelly Road and Circle Drive, Hamilton Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander southbound on Kelly Road when he attempted to turn left onto Circle Drive while traveling at a speed greater than reasonable for conditions. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and overturned to its right side, simultaneously striking an embankment.
