Evans finishes the contest with 14 strikeouts and receives all the support he would need in the opening inning when singles by Vic Koshuta and Bill O’Gurek produce the first run. The winners add an insurance tally in the third when Koshuta singles, steals second and third, and scores on a fielder’s choice. Ron Carulli also collects a pair of hits for the Hillers.
