July 30, 2002 — Jim Thorpe rolls to a 16-0 victory over Weatherly to capture the championship of the 45th annual Panther Valley Little League tournament. The title is the sixth overall for Thorpe, which went through the tourney undefeated. Corey Cinicola tosses a one-hitter in the four-inning contest, walking two and striking out nine. Joe Hughes leads a 15-hit attack by finishing 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Cinicola helps his own cause with two doubles and two RBIs, while Jake Zurn, Nathan Jones and Eric Busocker all collect two hits and knock in a run.
