The Greenwood Mining Company, sole producer of anthracite in the Panther Valley, has received a major order from the U.S. government for the fiscal year that will begin in September.

The company will provide 32,000 tons of coal to heat U.S. facilities in West Germany.

The egg and stove coal order will help Greenwood plan its steady work schedule for union production workers, a significant matter since Greenwood has not lost a day of work due to market conditions since September of last year.

Officials praised that record in view of the distressed condition of the anthracite industry.

The company has made swift changes in its operations in preparation of accelerating its production of the coal.
