July 28, 1986 — The Birches rally for three runs in the eighth inning to pull out a 4-3 victory over the Wanderers and win their Northampton County Legion (NorCo) championship series, two games to none. The big comeback begins when Pete Prior is hit by a pitch and later scores on a John Konawalik single. Tim Morris follows with a run-scoring double to tie the score, while Brian Kresge delivers a single to plate the go-ahead and eventual winning run. Kresge pitches eight and one-third innings, striking out eight and allowing just four hits, for the win. Prior records the final two outs for the save.
