Carbon Career and Technical Institute held a fun interactive way for students to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Members of the school’s National Technical Honor Society and Principal Michelle Allen presented the students with a meaningful challenge: if each lunch period could collectively raise $250, then the students would earn the opportunity to “Pie the Principal.”

The students eagerly accepted the challenge and rose to the occasion with enthusiasm and generosity.

Thanks to their hard work and the support of faculty, staff and students, the fundraising goal was met in record time. As promised, Principal Allen took a few pies to the face in good spirit, much to the delight of students and staff.

A check for $1,500 was presented to the American Cancer Society at the American Cancer Society Telethon, demonstrating how even lighthearted efforts can make a real difference in the community. Members of the NTHS also answered phones at the ACS telethon, fulfilling their community service hours.

“The ACS and our community truly benefited from everyone’s generosity,” said Sue Ann Gerhard, the adviser of the National Technical Honor Society. “We hope to continue this partnership and keep the spirit of giving alive each year.”
