Vandals put graffiti on Mahoning Drive-In sign

Vandals defaced the Mahoning Valley Drive-In Theater’s marquee sometime Saturday morning.

Corrosive black paint was tossed onto the historic sign alongside Route 433 near Lehighton.

“We were just as shocked and heartbroken as you all were to see those images,” according to a Facebook post from the drive-in.

But drive-in owners said it didn’t take long for the community to show its support.

In a recent Facebook post, it was noted that the marquee has been cleaned. And not only that, Cliff Albert at Fathom Painting repainted it in a fresh coat of white.

Now, owners said they are working with local law enforcement to track down the vandals. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to MahoningDriveinTheater@gmail.com.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support you have shown us since our historic marquee was vandalized,” according to the Facebook post. “The outpouring has been truly overwhelming and just proves how strong this community of ours really is.”
