The election of Wheaton Williams as president of the Walnutport Borough Council highlighted a recent meeting of the board.

Williams will succeed Stephen Trainer, who resigned from the council for personal reasons.

Mayor Henry Kline presided at the session, during which time Councilman Richard Kocher was named vice president and James Minnich was appointed to replace Trainer. Minnich will have to seek election in November is he desires to remain on the board.

Williams is a former president of the council, having held the position in 1985.
