Students at Carbon Career & Technical Institute continue to demonstrate outstanding achievement, with 91% of students scoring at the Advanced or Proficient level on their industry-based NOCTI and NIMS assessments. This performance significantly surpasses the Pennsylvania state average of 84%, highlighting CCTI’s ongoing commitment to excellence in career and technical education.

National Occupational Competency Testing Institute assessments measure both written technical knowledge and hands-on performance skills in career and technical education programs. National Institute for Metalworking Skills certifications validate industry-recognized competencies in manufacturing and machining fields. Together, these assessments serve as important indicators of student readiness for employment and postsecondary opportunities.

Four CCTI technical areas achieved an exceptional milestone, with 100% of their students earning Advanced scores in both the written and performance components of their assessments. The Carpentry, Electrical Automation & Distribution, Engineering Technology, and Precision Machine Technology programs were recognized for this accomplishment and awarded banners to proudly display in their labs and classroom areas.

“These results reflect the dedication and skills of CCTI students, instructors, staff, and parents/guardians to maintaining the highest standards of technical education. Once again, CCTI has demonstrated its ability to meet and exceed the expectations and performance standards established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Bureau of Career and Technical Education,” said Dave Reinbold, administrative director.

The past two Program Evaluations conducted by PDE/BCTE every six years praised the staff and students for their outstanding efforts to maintain quality programs. After review of the CCTI’s programs, an evaluation team from the PDE/BCTE announced that no corrections were identified and CCTI was not required to submit any corrective plans. According to team leader Mindy S. Freiden-Mansfield, “This is my first evaluation with no corrections in my 100 plus reviews in my 8-plus years at PDE.”

The continued success of CCTI students serves as a testament to the quality of instruction, hands-on training, and industry-aligned curriculum that prepare graduates for successful careers and lifelong learning.
