How our state representatives voted
The state representatives of the PA House voted recently to pass these bills and send them to the Senate for concurrence. Here are the results of the respective legislation:
House Bill 916
The bill would expand current requirements to ensure all children are tested for lead poisoning at 12 and 24 months of age, and more frequently if considered to be high risk.

House Bill 2391
The bill would ensure residential mortgages (primarily for personal, family, or household purposes) can be paid off early at any time without triggering a prepayment penalty, preventing lenders from offering more favorable terms in exchange for prepayment penalties. The bill aims to deter short-term “house flipping” and encourage long-term community investments.

House Bill 2446
The bill would establish the Fire Company Transformational Grant Program. Administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, the legislation provides $30 million to help municipal, volunteer, and combination fire companies upgrade equipment, improve facilities, and aid recruitment. Single departments would be able to receive grants from $100,000 up to $1 million. Combined or regionalized departments are eligible for $250,000 up to $2.5 million to incentivize consolidation and shared resources. The funds would be able to be used for purchasing major apparatus (such as fire trucks), upgrading stations, staffing, and volunteer recruitment and retention efforts

House Bill 2449
The bill would authorize the voluntary display of the Green Star Service Banner on state-owned property to honor veterans who died by suicide and to support their families, providing recognition and support to Gold Star families and families of veterans who have died by mental health struggles or suicide, acknowledging they often lack the same level of recognition as families of those killed in combat.

House Bill 2469
The bill would allow counties to use public-private partnerships (P3s) for local transportation and infrastructure projects. Previously, only PennDOT and specific transportation agencies were authorized to utilize public-private partnerships to finance, engineer, construct, and maintain infrastructure.
