A fast moving fire Saturday afternoon destroyed a vehicle and a garage in Tamaqua. T

he alarm came in just before 2 p.m. as a working structure fire to the rear of the 500 block of East Broad street in East End Alley. When fire fighters from Schuylkill and Carbon counties arrived on scene they found heavy flames and smoke showing from the wood frame structure.

The heat was so intense it melted the aluminum siding on five nearby homes and damaged several vehicles across the street. Tamaqua fire police maintained traffic control at the scene detouring traffic.

Tamaqua police are investigating the incident.
