Palmerton graduate Nataly Walters enjoyed a record-setting freshman season with the University of North Florida women’s track and field team.
After missing the start of the outdoor season because of an injury, Walters returned to break the school record in the triple jump with a leap of 12.26 meters (40 feet, 2 3/4 inches) in her first collegiate outdoor meet at the Georgia Tech Invitational. She later improved the mark to 12.36 meters (40-6 3/4) while winning the ASUN Outdoor Championship, earning First Team All-ASUN honors.
During the indoor season, Walters also established North Florida’s indoor triple jump record with a leap of 12.27 meters (40-3 1/4). She was named ASUN Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week and ASUN Women’s Indoor Freshman of the Week.
