Service in Weatherly’s Eurana Park for 250th anniversary celebration

Nearly 50 people gathered at Eurana Park in Weatherly for public worship on July 1 in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The service was hosted by the Church of The Great Redeemer and led by the Rev. Dan Meader. America’s favorite hymns were sung, accompanied with praise and prayer.

Meader reminded the congregation of the Christian heritage of the country, quoting both scripture and the Founding Fathers.

“No matter what you have been told, America needs God,” he said as he talked of the religious nature of our founding, exhorting the nation to turn back to “the God of its youth.”

Following the service, those who attended were treated to “all-American” refreshments including hot dogs and apple pie.

The Church of The Great Redeemer is a relatively new church in Weatherly, and holds worship services in the First Presbyterian Church, 101 E. Main St., at 9 a.m. Sundays.
