Man picked up on warrant, faces drug possession charges

A Nesquehoning man faces drug trafficking charges after officers picked him up on an outstanding warrant in the borough Monday.

Robert Cesanek, 39, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

District Judge Beth Dodson arraigned him Monday and Cesanek was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint, state police saw Cesanek get out of a vehicle and attempt to enter his mother’s West Catawissa Street residence and was detained on active arrest warrants for failure to appear for court proceedings.

Troopers found 97 glassine packets with suspected fentanyl inside a black satchel Cesanek was carrying on his shoulder, court papers said. Also found were other items of paraphernalia, including a digital scale with suspected drug residue.

The suspected fentanyl was packaged in bundles of 10, which is referred to as a “bun” of “bundle, and five of the bundles were also banded together, which is commonly called a “brick,” the affidavit said.

Cesanek told troopers that he planned to sell the controlled substances to others, and that he also used controlled substances, court papers said.

Cesanek also told troopers that he had been distributing controlled substances in the Carbon County area for the past six months, the arrest paper said.
