June 19, 2008 — Pleasant Valley’s Ali Yozwiak is named as the Times News Area Girls Soccer Player of the Year. The junior finished the season with 21 goals and 13 assists to help the Bears, coached by Kal Sarkozy, post an undefeated regular season record in Mountain Valley Conference games. She also set the school’s all-time mark in goals scored, roaring past the old high of 69 held by Lynda Hicks and finishing the year with 89 (Yozwiak had 39 as a freshman and 29 as a sophomore). The standout player also battled through an ankle injury most of the season.
