LDI seeks painters for Mosaic Mural
The Lehighton Downtown Initiative seeks assistance to help paint the tiles of its Mosaic Mural.
Last month, Lehighton Borough Council approved LDI’s request to purchase and erect a 7-foot by 12-foot Mosaic Mural, at a cost of $4,997, at a location to be determined for America250.
The LDI received a Mosaic Mural Grant from America250PA and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, according to Bambi Elsasser, community operations director, LDI.
“We were one of only seven beautification grants given throughout the state,” Elsasser said. “This project will encourage community involvement and celebrate America250.”
Elsasser said the tiles have arrived, and added they would love for individuals to come out to the Lehighton Recreation Center on one of their designated painting time frames.
She said the designated painting times are as follows:
• Today, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
• June 20, 9 a.m. to noon.
• June 30, 6-8 p.m.
• July 7, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
• July 20, 1-7 p.m.
Elsasser said there are only 200 tiles to be painted for the mural, and that this will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“On July 20, America250PA and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful will be on site as it is Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Day,” she said. “We need to paint the last of the tiles and start assembling the mural on this day.”
Elsasser said this is limited to the first 50 people to sign up, and added those who do will receive a T-shirt and be part of the celebration.
She said anyone interested in joining the LDI on July 20 may email ldilehighton@gmail.com.
“Let’s all paint a tile and be part of history,” said Elsasser, who noted the Mosaic Mural will be on display at an outdoor site to be determined.
