Coaldale to begin street sweeping
Coaldale residents are reminded that street sweeping will begin on borough streets next week.
Sweeping will continue during the week of June 21.
The sweeper will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays of both weeks.
While a schedule wasn’t announced at Tuesday’s council meeting, officials said it will soon be available on the borough’s Facebook page.
In addition, streets will be posted in advance of the sweeping to allow residents time to move their vehicles.
Vehicles remaining on posted streets will be towed at the owner’s expense.
In the near future, residents will be able to receive phone notifications about street sweeping and other borough activities.
Borough secretary Kim Gavornik has been in touch with Diversified Technology regarding alerts to notify residents of road work, snow removal and more.
The alerts would be by a call, and not by a text message — and would be beneficial to those who do not have access to the internet.
Council gave conditional approval to add the emergency alert system at a cost not to exceed $1,000.
Also during the meeting, Mayor Daniel Weiksner reminded residents to pay their sewer, water and sewer transmission fees on time.
If they don’t, they face having water to their homes shut off.
Weiksner said those in arrears will be contacted through the mail about a possible water shut off. Their homes will also be posted for 10 days.
If the water service is terminated, the property owner must pay their bills and additional fees to have it reconnected.
