Coaldale names Gerber to council

Coaldale Borough Council has a new member.

At Tuesday’s monthly meeting, council appointed Scott Gerber to the role.

“Congratulations, Scott. You are our new member,” council President Rose Hoben said following the unanimous vote.

Mayor Daniel Weiksner then issued Gerber the oath of office.

“Welcome to council,” Weiksner said.

Gerber took a seat and participated in the meeting.

He was one of two who expressed interest in the seat, and has served as the borough’s emergency management coordinator since 2025.

He replaces Jacob Adamitis, whose resignation letter was accepted at May’s meeting. Adamitis stepped down due to a move out of the borough.

Adamitis served on council for four years. He did not seek reelection and his term expired in December.

He was appointed in February after two seats became available on council earlier. Former council President Claire Remington resigned in December, while Councilwoman Kim Gavornik left in February to become borough secretary and tax collector.

John Cray was appointed to the other seat.
