Police, Carbon coroner, investigate murder-suicide

The Carbon County Coroner’s Office and police are investigating the deaths of two people at a residence in White Haven (East Side Borough) Carbon County on Friday.

Emergency responders along with Kidder Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the residence, on Friday after concerns were raised regarding the welfare of the occupants following a 9-1-1 hang up call.

Two deceased people were located on the property. Both decedents were pronounced by Chief Deputy Coroner, Jason T. Smith early Saturday.

Based upon the preliminary investigation conducted by the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident is believed to be a murder-suicide. The names are not being released at this time. Autopsies have been scheduled for Monday at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensics Center.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
