Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Deb Rogers will bring the message of “Coming Back to Christ” at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. There will also be a message for children, and special music and congregational singing.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, there will be an “I Love This Land” presentation of patriotic music celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary by The Lewistown Valley Community Chorus. Refreshments will follow.

There will be no Sunday evening service. The Wednesday prayer group will meet at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Good News Day Camp

There will be Good News Day Camp at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22-26. There is a cost. Those who register early will receive a $5 discount.

Camp is for children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. Older children may qualify as a helper.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Graduates will be recognized. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. and the church board meets at 11 a.m.

On Monday the prayer group meets at 7 p.m.

Tuesday is the deadline for the July/August newsletter. Retirees meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Vendor fair

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, will have a vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 13. Vendors include Tupperware, MaryKay, Paparazzi, Handmade crochet items, Paperpie, homemade baked goods, and PermaLinx. The kitchen will open at 11 a.m. for lunch. There will also be a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing.

Vacation Bible School

Lewistown Valley Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8:15 p.m. July 6-10 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road. It is for ages 2 and 3 and pre-K through grade 6 completed. Children under 4 need an accompanying adult.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included in this service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on May 28 with 19 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Oh, What He Can Do!,” recited by a member.

One member was added to the sick list. Refreshments were served and drinks and snacks were provided.

The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays from the Coaldale Complex.
