Circus at fairgrounds

The Zerbini Family Circus is coming to the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert for a show tonight at 6 p.m. and another show at 6 p.m. Thursday.

TOPS times two

Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, hosts two TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) gatherings on Wednesdays. The first is at 10 a.m., the second at 5:30 p.m.

Redeemable now

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which provides $25 in vouchers to eligible seniors, is now underway.

The vouchers can be redeemed at farmers markets throughout the county through Nov. 30.

Bog walks begin

Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced it will host guided public walks into the Tannersville Cranberry Bog each Wednesday. The June 3 through Sept. 9 walks are from 10 a.m. to noon, while the Sept. 16 through Nov. 4 walks are from 1-3 p.m.

Eldred Ag Security

The Eldred Township Agricultural Security Committee meeting is on the calendar for 7 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building on Route 715.

The next planning commission meeting is listed for 7 p.m. June 10.

‘Needlers’ needed

From St. Matthew’s EC Church, Kunkletown, comes word of a need: more members for the church’s Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Started in 2014, the ministry began with 16 members. The group is now down to two.

Recipients of the shawls know that they are being cared for by a wonderful and tangible gift of support.

OES meeting

Monroe Chapter 99 of the Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rimrock Masonic Center on Rimrock Drive, Stroudsburg.

State tax news

From state Rep. Jack Rader comes the news that “the deadline for senior citizens and Pennsylvanians with disabilities to apply for rebates or rent and property taxes paid in 2025 has once again been extended to December 31.”

The Men’s Group at St. Matthew’s EC Church, Kunkletown, is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Effort Women’s Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Wesley Hall.

Years of love

From Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, comes word of love’s longevity. Three couples are celebrating 60-plus years of marriage in June. One marriage is 64 years, the second is 62, and the third is 61.

Operation: Touch of Home will hold its next monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, invites all to pray the rosary “every Saturday at 4:20 p.m., before the 5 p.m. Mass, and Sunday at 7:20 a.m., before the 8 a.m. Mass.”

The Planning Commission of Polk Township is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. June 10 at the township’s offices in Kresgeville.

Free kids meals

On June 11, the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network on Route 209 in Sciota begins its Free Summer Meals for Kids Program from 8-11 a.m. every Thursday through Aug. 13.

Families will receive five days worth of shelf-stable breakfasts and lunches for each child up to age 18.

Young people over 18 who are enrolled in school programs for students with disabilities are also eligible, according to PVEN.

There are no residency or income requirements; all the PVEN needs is the number of children in need of the food.

Since the kits weigh about 25 pounds per child/per week, volunteers are needed to help load kits into vehicles.

Ross Twp. history

Ross Township Historical Society is looking for nominations of historical structures that are at least 75 years old or older. Property owners can contact 570-856-7324 for information on getting their property recognized.

The next West End Missions dinner will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, at 4:30 p.m. June 11.

Pantry open

The Supplemental Food Resource Center food pantry at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon June 13.

Family movie set

Effort UMC has announced its June 13 family-friendly Christian-based movie night for June 13, in Wesley Hall.

It will begin at 4 p.m. and a kid-friendly dinner will be provided.

Library summer

It is to be a busy summer at and for the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville, and registrations are being accepted from June 15 through June 30.

The theme for this summer’s reading program is Dino-Mite 2026 Reading Adventure.

Fundraiser set

Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is hosting a fundraiser at Red Robin in Bartonsville from 4-8 p.m. June 18. The church will receive 20% of food sales for that time period.

Opening ahead

The Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is holding its opening on June 20. And one of the many things people can do is buy a ticket for the annual quilt raffle at Harvest Festival in the fall.

This year’s quilt is the blue and white star pattern.

Rosary bonfire

At the fire pit at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, the family Rosary bonfire tradition continues. The invitation is, “Come join us at the fire pit behind the pavilion for a bonfire, s’mores, games and the rosary! Sunday, June 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring your family, and bring a chair (or a blanket)!”

Camps start

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center offers summer day camps.

Campers should choose one week. The camps are:

• Get in Touch with Nature for ages 7-10 — June 22-26, July 6-10 or Aug. 3-7.

• Adventure Camp for ages 11-13 — July 6-10, Aug. 3-7 or Aug. 17-21.

Camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with early care and late pickup available for an additional fee.
