Snow-related crashes investigated

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating three crashes on Saturday, all three occurring on snow-covered Route 895 in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

The first crash occurred at 3:21 p.m. as Alivia J. Hittner, 23, of Palmerton, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze eastbound and down a hill when she lost control. The Cruze crossed over into the westbound lane and struck the guide rail along the berm. After impact the Cruze continued east in the westbound lane and came to rest after striking shrubbery in front of 149 Route 895.

Hittner was not injured. She was cited for the crash.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 3:35 p.m. Troopers said Cadi L. Wernett, 29, of Jim Thorpe, driving a 2008 Jeep Compass, and Shawn M. Lynn, 30, Summit Hill, driving a 2005 Honda CR-V, were both westbound when Wernett lost control. The Compass traveled onto the west berm and struck an embankment, which caused the vehicle to overturn onto the driver’s side. Lynn, directly behind Wernett, could not come to a complete stop to avoid impacting the Compass with his Honda. The front right of the Honda struck the rear of the Compass.

Wernett and Lynn and his passengers, Gabrielle S. Moss, 22, and two juveniles, a 3-year-old boy, and an 8-year-old girl, all from Summit Hill, were all not injured.

Wernett was cited for the crash and Lynn was cited for restrain systems.

The third crash was reported at 6:50 p.m. as Jane A. Cochran, 50, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 1999 Subaru Forester eastbound when she lost control and her vehicle began to slide. The Forester crossed into the westbound lane and onto the berm where it struck a guide rail before landing in a ditch near the intersection with Drehersville Road.

Cochran and passenger, Mary Cochran, 19, same address, were not injured. She was cited for the crash.
