A Weatherly man wanted for allegedly missing a court appearance on prior drug-related charges is facing additional charges after an incident Saturday night in the Beech Mountain Lakes development.
Butler Township police said Tanner Titus, 30, fled from officers after a traffic stop around 10 p.m. near Edge Rock Drive. Police said Titus ran through several yards and into a wooded area before he was taken into custody a short time later.
During the chase, an officer deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective due to the multiple layers of clothing Titus was wearing.
Titus was later taken into custody a short time later.
Police said Titus was carrying suspected heroin/fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
Titus was charged with resisting arrest, fleeing police, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Brian J. Tupper and sent to Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month in Luzerne County Central Court.
