May 22, 2012 — Weatherly freshman pitcher Kelly Parker turns in a solid effort to lead the Wreckers to a 4-1 victory over Mahanoy Area in the quarterfinal round of the District 11 Class 1A softball playoffs. Parker tosses a five-hitter and strikes out eight in her seven innings of work. She registers two of those strikeouts in the bottom of the fourth inning with the bases loaded and one out to get out of a jam. The winners, coached by Margaret Brown, score twice in the second inning on Mahanoy errors, while Dominique Adamczyk delivers an RBI single in the fourth.
