Calvary – Lewistown

There will be a combined service of Calvary Evangelical and Zion churches at 11 a.m. Sunday at Calvary Evangelical Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will celebrate Memorial Day. All are invited to honor and remember our heroes. Pastor Jim Williams from Zion will bring the message.

The service will continue at Calvary’s cemetery with readings and songs. A gun salute and the playing of taps by the American Legion will be held.

A potluck luncheon will follow at Zion’s social hall.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. at Calvary. There will be no Sunday evening worship.

Zion - Lewistown

Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Hall.

A joint Memorial Day Service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. There will be a ceremony in the cemetery after the service.

A covered dish meal will be provided at Zion social hall afterward.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on May 14 with 23 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “How We Spend Our Time.”

One member was added to the sick list. Refreshments were served. Two members donated a memorial basket and a member brought napkins.

The meeting closed and bingo and cards were played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays from the Coaldale Complex.
