West Penn OKs extension for solar farm

A proposed 161-acre solar farm in West Penn Township has been granted an extension.

On a 2-0 vote, supervisors this week granted a 30-day extension to Hole-In-One Solar Farm LLC Project.

As a result, the new action date will be July 22.

Supervisor Kyle Kester was absent.

In January 2025, a property transfer was completed from Yule Tree LP to Solareit2-A-II-LLC for the property at 521 Golf Road, in the amount of $1,959,000.

It is the site of the former Villas Crossing Golf Course.

Based in Virginia, SolaREIT is a real estate company focused on delivering solar and battery energy storage developers and landowners value for their land and leases.

SolaREIT, a minority and women-owned business, was founded in 2020 as a Real Estate Investment Trust by solar energy industry veterans with experience in finance, solar project development, real estate and community solar.

According to the organization’s website, since 2020 it has transacted in 15 states and is a member of the Solar Energy Industries Association and the Coalition for Community Solar Access.

In October, supervisors approved a maintenance easement agreement between the township and PAB Solar 31 LLC and PAB Solar 32 LLC.

That came after the board in August gave conditional approval to the final plan on the Ridge Road Solar Land Development, which calls for about 33,000 solar panels on 79 acres near the intersection of Ridge Road and Ash Circle.

The board tabled the vote in July because members were looking for a decommissioning plan from the developer, a land development and stormwater agreement, which have since been submitted.
