Several people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash in Towamensing Township. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 209 just north of the intersection with Preachers Camp Road.

The injured were treated by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center. The Towamensing and Franklin townships fire companies responded to the scene.

Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
