Republicans select committee men and women

Voters in four municipalities in Carbon County decided on Republican committeemen and committeewomen positions on the party’s county committee in Tuesday’s primary election.

The county bylaws have a designated number of positions in each municipality.

The contested races existed in East Penn, Franklin and Lower Towamensing townships, as well as in Palmerton Borough.

The results are:

East Penn Township: Six people ran for five positions. The vote totals showed James Dorward with 160; Timm Berger, 192; Kathy Henderson, 221; Darin Dotter, 206; Rochelle Pasquariello, 242; and Lee Becker, 217.

Franklin Township: Nine people ran for seven positions, with the results being Ty Poole, 289; Stacey Kuklentz, 272; Tyler Poole, 245; Katie Kokinda, 282; Jacob Frey, 330; Brandy Frey, 256; Jeff Kuklentz, 241; Fred Rodger Kemmerle Jr., 248; and Elizabeth M. Blose, 193.

Lower Towamensing Township: Seven people sought four positions: Doyle Heffley, 199; Earl Paules, 108; Chris Allen, 64; Christine Allen, 65; Jean A. Papay, 147; Kenneth W. Sutton, 94; and Kellie Heffley, 136.

Palmerton: Eight people ran for seven positions. Patricia L. Seyford had 151 votes; Lynda Buchfeller, 135; Kevin Zelienka, 206; Lexi Merkel, 197; Ronald W. Seyford, 147; Danielle Paules, 147; John Rodrigues, 211; and Gina Rodrigues, 203.

Uncontested races

In other municipalities, there were no contests, although there were candidates seeking to represent the following areas:

Bowmanstown (elect 2): Michael P. Beishline, 67.

Jim Thorpe (elect 7): Edith Berger, 211; Kayla E. Herman, 266; Donna L. Gentile, 263; and Michael J. Sofranko, 288.

Lehighton (elect 7): Jeremy Glaush, 159; Duane A. Dellecker, 174; Wayne Nothstein, 248; Michael J. Hopstock, 206; Joy Beers, 168; Bethanne G. Hauser, 170; and April Walker, 182.

Mahoning Township (elect 6): Larry K. Heffley, 327; David Yeakel, 298; Shellylee Yeakel, 277; Montana Confer, 294; and Wallace Putkowski, 306.

Penn Forest Township (elect 16): James Nelson, 418; Christian Bartulovich, 514; Vincent Prete, 356; Janet Nelson, 375; Rebecca Hassenbein, 443; Melanie J. Prete, 351; Kayla Semmel, 410; Robert Salerno, 395; Brandon Bell, 446; James Denier, 394; and Richard Hoffman, 426.

Summit Hill (elect 4): Bryan Smith, 142; Alicia Kupec, 142; and John Kupec, 144.

Towamensing Township (elect 4): Frank A. Latsch, 295; and David Severino, 303.

Weatherly (elect 2): April Hauser, 153.
